The Middle Man is Always Screwed

I was at the grocery store some time ago with my son and my husband. We were at the cereal isle. I was hoping to buy Cinnamon Toast Crunch but to my disappointment, they were out. While scanning through shelves for a worthy replacement to my cinnamon-y-sugar breakfast food, I noticed a lot of the other cereals were sold out. My husband tells me, "babe, first of the month, remember"?

I glance to my right and there was a woman holding a WIC check. I guess she took what my husband had said the wrong way and pretty much stormed by me, my pregnant belly and my husband with her shopping cart. I reacted by trhowing my arms up in the air as to say 'What the fuck, lady?'. The woman's daughter, who was trying to catch up with her saw my reaction, then quickly told her mom. The woman, who was at the end of the aisle, had to back up and give us the nastiest glare.

Seriously lady, the comment my husband made was not meant for you, or was meant to be mean. I wanted cereal. The store was out of my cereal. The store was out of half the stock of cereal. Why? First of the month, duh.

And why the reaction? was she mad that she's on WIC? Hell, if i qualified for it, and did not have a job (and was looking for one) i'll use it to feed my kids. But I dont. Do I make an assload of money and am considered rich? Far from.

What irks me is that the working class busts thier asses of to earn a paycheck. But, most still can't afford a house, have loans to pay for, pay for food out of thier own pocket. My old neighbor used to have BBQs every single day. He has a freezer full of steaks, assorted meats and all the good stuff. What does he do for a living? NOTHING. He even admits it. But he, his wife and 10,000 kids get to live for free in a X bedroom house and pay what, $20 a month. He's proud of it! He told me, "I'm a citizen, so I will use all the free money I can." Geez. So unfair.

Ugh. I truly had the urge to place my groceries with that snooty WIC lady's groceries and ask that she pay for 10% of my total amount, because my hard earned, with held tax paying dollars are paying for hers.

Seriously, drop the attitude, lady. No one was talking to, or about you.
